Animal Welfare
ANIMALS ARE PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES
The Folsom Pro Rodeo is proud to uphold the highest standards of livestock care and safety in partnership with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). With more than 60 rules in place governing every aspect of livestock treatment—including the type of equipment used, time limits for events, and arena conditions—we are committed to the well-being of every animal involved in the rodeo.
These guidelines are the result of decades of collaboration between rodeo athletes, stock contractors, and veterinary professionals who share a deep respect for these animal athletes. PRCA regulations require that a licensed veterinarian be onsite for every performance to oversee the health and condition of the livestock and to ensure swift attention in the rare case of an injury.
Our local team works closely with both the PRCA and regional animal care experts to ensure Folsom Pro Rodeo continues to be a model for responsible rodeo practices. Every animal that competes is treated with care and respect and is an essential part of the sport we all love.
